The 12 steps to business writing success (continued)
Few of these ideas are new to students of writing. However, if you don't consider yourself a writer, yet find yourself consumed by the task nonetheless, Davis' book can act as a friendly companion to guide you through the process. He's also clearly familiar with the common writing tasks that confront the typical resident of the corporate environment and tailors his explanations, analogies, and examples accordingly.
Ebooks can be just another tool Since no one in the corporate world is free from the daily composition of email, memos, and business letters, Manage Your Writing is an invaluable tool to keep on your trusty Palm device. It can be used like any other reference material you might keep in ebook form on your PDA. I would recommend first reading the book all the way through, absorbing Davis' suggestions. Then, as you work, it'll always be at your side if you need a quick reminder.
I found myself doing that very thing while putting together an article for PalmPower Magazine. I remembered Davis had a tip for dealing with those accursed passive-verb sentences, but I couldn't remember off-hand what it was. I just opened up the ebook, made use of the Find function, and soon had the information I was looking for.
The Manage Your Writing ebook takes up 37K on your device. To view it you'll also need the iSilo free reader. Downloading and reading the ebook costs nothing, but the return is invaluable.
