ENTERPRISE SITE OF THE MONTH
JurisPDA provides tools for Palm handheld users in the legal community
By Steve Niles

New York Law School, located in Manhattan's TriBeCa district, is one of the oldest independent law schools in the United States. The school has considered itself an innovator in legal education since its founding in 1891. This tradition of innovation continues with the creation of a brand new Web site that acknowledges the explosion of the use of handhelds in the legal community.

New York Law School has launched a Web site called JurisPDA at http://www.jurispda.com. The site is designed to enable law students, legal scholars, and practicing attorneys to organize and manage legal data more efficiently and conveniently and to take full advantage of the Law School's resources. I've selected it as PalmPower's Enterprise Edition Site of the Month because JurisPDA is tailored specifically to users of Palm OS handheld devices! The site is pictured in Figure A.

The Web site was conceived by NYLS (New York Law School) Professor Denise Morgan, and it was developed jointly by her and NYLS Professor Tanina Rostain; Grace Lee, the Electronic Services Librarian at NYLS; and Altagracia Dilon Levat, the Associate Dean for Public Affairs at NYLS.

The site is aimed at law students or lawyers who might be asking themselves the question, "How can I use my handheld to be more effective and efficient?" Through systematic research and plenty of trial and error, they have gathered an inventory of what they believe to be the most useful Palm OS handheld applications for lawyers. They've also put together some legal reference materials (like the U.S. Constitution, Federal Rules of Evidence, and assorted Supreme Court cases), for you to download and read on your Palm OS handheld.

If you're a member of the legal community, and you're one of the rapidly growing number of Palm OS handheld users, you need to check out JurisPDA at http://www.jurispda.com. It's an ideal way to find everything you need in one convenient location.
